Bookshare Information!
Bookshares are a
chance for you to share with the class the books that you read in your free time. You are
free
to read any sort of book that you would like for bookshares, but I would like for you to
read a variety of styles or genre of literature throughout the year.
You have between three
minutes and five minutes in which to present your book. The back of this sheet details how
you will be scored. Please make sure to focus your report on one of the elements described
below.
A. Characters: What motivates the main characters? What are their good points and their bad points? What can you learn from the main characters that will help you in your life?
B. Setting: How does the author describe the setting?
How does the author use the setting as an important part of the story? Would you like to travel
to or
live in this setting?
C. Style: What makes the author's writing style unique and/or special? Does the author's style help you enjoy the book? What can you learn from the author's style that will make you a better writer?
D. Plot: What is the major crisis in the plot? How did the author develop the story in the lead up to the crisis and was the crisis resolved in a way that you liked? Please don't just summarize the story. Instead, analyze the plot to see inside the author's craft. What would you do to improve the plot?
