What Is Anime?
Anime is Japanese animation. It is extremely popular in Japan. Anime is unique to Japan, though it is frequently used in American cartoons or games. Anime has been around since early WWII times. It was designed for all ages and is frequently used in extremely popular adult movies in Japan. Anime is much different from other types of animation. Because of its distinctive features, anime is easily recognized. Anime ranges from serious to silly.
What Does Anime Look Like?
Anime figures always have a similar look, but anime varies all the time. One feature that is unique to almost all anime figures is the eyes. The eyes have a unique pupil-less look. Instead they have pools of white inside the colored part of their eye, or the iris. The reason animators in Japan do this is because the main direction of light towards the body is from above, causing there to be shine towards the top of the eye. Also the light will reflect off the ground and cause there to be a small pool of light at the bottom of the eye. Also, normally the eyes are open to their widest. The eyes frequently have no eyelids while the eye is open. Anime normally gives people tiny noses and small ears, but makes the head very large. For shorter anime figures, the head is normally half of their entire body. Mouths in anime are normally much larger than anything else. They can go up to a foot past the bottom of an anime figure’s head.
How Is Anime Different From American Comics?
There are an extremely large number of differences. Here are just a few. First of all, anime was never invented because of western comics. It evolved separately. Anime also has its own unique style of drawing. Also, anime uses different small pictures or symbols to show emotions. For Example: anime makes a drop of water next to or on the person’s head when that person is aggravated, angry, sad, nervous, apprehensive, or put down. Another major difference is that anime characters represent real people, in a way that is surprisingly effecive. With that is the combination of impossible fantasies, with the way the person is drawn, their body language, etc. Anime is a combination of the two that normally attracts people’s eyes and causes fascination with anime.
How Do You Make Anime Figures Look Good or Bad?
Good characters normally have bright open faces with enormous eyes, a small, kind of pointy nose. The size of lips and the mouth all depend on the character’s mood. Normally the hair is bright, even if it is black. Good guys also normally have large eyebrows. Bad characters normally have a kind of grubby or haggard look. They have smaller pupils and eyes than the good characters, giving them a shrewd and calculating look. Normally, a part of their face is in shadow. Always the characters have pointy chins and noses.
Does Anime Have Others Purposes Besides Entertainment?
Yes, anime is part of Japanese modern culture. It is not some thing that had been around for a long time, instead it is a recent addition to Japan. When you think of anime you think of Japan right? Anime, being something invented separately from all other forms of animation, is something almost every Japanese person is proud of, and therefore, it is part of their culture, whether we like it or not. Anime is also used to express things, events, people, and places.
What Type of Figures are Used in Anime?
In anime, there are many different types of character. Anime covers medieval to future. Anime normally focuses on things in modern day life, that is dramatically changed to something amazing and odd. Sort of like magical realism. Anime, for its medieval animation, normally focuses on things that are unlikely to become a grand hero, for example, a squire, or a little boy. In future things, anime focuses on spaceship captains. For modern day, anime focuses on all sorts of characters, even pigs.
What is the History of Anime?
The first person to draw anime was Osamu Tezuka. He started out writing and drawing manga, or Japanese comics. At age twenty, he became famous for his animation style. He taught many artists how to draw anime. This all happened in 1947. He created unique and interesting characters, each with a different personality. He drew and taught people to draw characters who could be flexed to look different, but still be the same person. In the early 1950's Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki were early anime and manga cartoonists, and they worked for the Toei film company, and helped to produce some of the more serious anime movies. In the 1960's Tezuka designed almost everything for what is considered to be the of the first anime movies ever, and this led to the creation of the popular cartoon series, Dragon Ball. Shortly afterward, a popular character that you know as Astro Boy was created, Tetsuwan Atom, or Atom Boy. This character quickly was known worldwide. Almost all anime up to this point had been for children. In the 70's, animators began to use more adult humor in their cartoons, and pretty soon, adult anime was extremely popular. Also futuristic anime was introduced, shocking audiences with spaceships and freaky aliens. Also in this age, an obsession with giant robot suits developed. In the 80's, an enormous popularity boom occurred. Dragon Ball Z, was invented and many people began to collect Dragon Ball Mini-Figures, and the show became one of anime's greatest accomplishments. In the 80's and 90's, people began to like the more shocking 3-D anime.
