What Else is There to Offer? A seemingly endless drought has reached the city of Tikal, a microcosm of the world. It has not rained for many long months, leaving the city dry and parched. Although the people of Tikal have complied in making many sacrifices to the Gods, the rains will not come. If the drought continues, the people of Tikal may have to move to another area that can give them more rain. In the four long months it has been since the last rain, the people are becoming tenuous. The crops are drying out, and the people are no longer replete with food and water. Many people are becoming so dehydrated that they are dying. The miniscule amount of food and water is causing other villages to attack Tikal in search of the remaining goods. As was mentioned before, there have been many sacrifices which do not help in bringing the rain. So far, the biggest sacrifices have been two jaguars and two of the people of Tikal. But still there is no rain to be found. This is a hard time for everyone and everything without water. We can only hope this drought will end soon. outline by Eileen written by Mariah
