For the good of the Maya

TIKAL-Due to an ongoing three-year drought, the village
elders have decided that a human sacrifice is called for. We need to strengthen
the Chacs and have them bring to us what we need so we may satiate them.
The elders have gathered several worthy candidates for sacrifice, up to ten
of which will be used. If the village does not act soon, we will all die
of starvation.
The ceremony will be held inside our central temple,
where men of all ages will be killed and fed to the gods. Their blood and
their hearts will be stored in several calabashes and fed to the gods until
they are replete. The storage of the blood will make it tenuous and thin,
but still a worthy drink for the gods.
Even though our village is but a minute microcosm of the
Mayan world, we must comply with the demands of the gods and fill them to
their standards. We can only hope that the men and animals sacrificed will
be enough.
