Japan is a country that has changed a lot over the last century and a half. Before Commodore Matthew Perry arrived in 1854, Japan was a country well isolated from the world. However, over the next 150 years they have worked hard to become a modern and powerful country. This site is about the two most important times of change, the Heisei and the Meiji periods. The purpose of this site is two compare and contrast them in two ways. First, I have a section about schools during those periods. which should serve to give  you a general idea of how life and culture were. Next, I have created the elements of virtual time capsules, buried during the Meiji and Heisei periods. I also provide additional reference and links.
