Japan was supposedly created when a god and goddess looked down from heaven and saw a long and colorful rainbow over the ocean. The rainbow made a bridge, so the god and goddess decided to walk across it. In the middle of the rainbow, the god stopped and put his jeweled spear into the ocean. He swirled the spear and then lifted it. The water drops that fell from the tip of the spear turned into land, which became Japan.
